It all began when Harvey, President of the Meyer Companies began working for Harold Meyer, owner of Meyers Heating and Air Conditioning as a sheet metal apprentice in 1951. It was not long after beginning his career that Harvey was inducted into the Navy. After his term of service was completed, Harvey resumed his career and became a salesman for Harold Meyer. His attention to detail, product knowledge, and salesmanship increased the need for the company to expand into a wider range of products and services. Not long after, Meyers electric and Meyers Plumbing were formed. The change enabled the companies to focus on specific areas of expertise.
In 1985, the plumbing and electric companies moved to Griffith, Indiana, and formed the Meyers Heating and Cooling Company with the entire staff from the original Hammond location.
