In the late 1950's, the trade show industry was in its infancy in Florida. Convention centers were small by today s standards. The current Miami Beach Convention Center did not exist, and places like Orlando s Disney World were not yet built to attract the hundreds of thousands of conventioneers to the Florida marketplace.
During this time, Leonard Swimmer, the CEO and founder of Edlen Electrical Exhibition Services, was just starting out. In 1955 at the age of 18, Lenny began his career working as a trade show electrician for a local Miami contractor. For the next 20 years, Lenny acquired the experience and knowledge necessary in the temporary utility field to build a successful business.
In 1975, Lenny opened Edlen s first office in Miami and quickly proceeded to separate himself from the competition.
