I have an "open" desk (an IKEA desk with a table top and legs - no back or sides). These are perfect for sticking on the underside of the desk, and running cables from one end of the desk to the other. They keep the cables out of sight, and keeps the organized - a lot better than having them hand around everywhere. The velco on these are great - super tight. I can easily hold 5+ cables in each one.

The cable catch is a small, little used velcro product that has its merrits. The adhesive on the back sticks well. The velcro is great. I just don't see a lot of practical uses for it.
